Honestly a half, and not because of the engine? The culprit to be found in the aforementioned automatic transmission, which would rather be called semi-automatic, as it is often necessary assistance to the driver. Besides being hesitant with transitions, these are accompanied by unpleasant strike, so it is necessary to resort to "paws" in addition to control, would you have chosen an adequate transmission. Fortunately, there is a mode of "Sport", when the transmission shows a certain intelligence. Performance, of course, modest, especially when it comes to acceleration (12.5 sec to 100 km / h) top speed of some 190 km / h, quite satisfactory. In part thanks to this system, the average consumption of less than 7 liters, with a range between 5.2 and 8.5 liters.
In any event, the 508 offers an excellent compromise between comfort and driving dynamics, and as such, is able to easily withstand the more powerful engine twice.There is no problem if you increase the pace, precise steering, powerful brakes and perfectly balanced chassis, reassure the driver.
Problems arise, however, driving around the city, with generous external dimensions, limited visibility, large diameter turning and sensitive body, not make life easier for the driver.
Very little can realistically be criticized 508-ci, both in aesthetic terms, and in terms ofoverall quality and driving dynamics. It is clear however that the 1.6 E-HDI, only fulfillsthe basic function of transportation, the true enjoyment of these qualities, it is necessary to resort to more powerful engines.
